ABOUT MICAH

Micah J. Brown is an accomplished saxophone player, vocalist, music educator, and composer. He has performed all over the world (more than 40 countries, and counting) as a solo artist and with bands, small and large. Equally comfortable on the big stage in front of 1000's, in a small supper club, or in a private venue, what Micah is known for is using his music and his incredible skill as an entertainer to bring people together. You cannot be in a room with Micah Brown and not have a whole lot of fun. He can also slow things down and use that beautiful horn to communicate emotion like none other.

Genre is not a word Micah feels a lot of connection with. Many people would think of him as a blues or R&B artist, but his performances are laced with jazz, funk and gospel. His improvisations are beautiful - they are all him. If you listen carefully, you can hear his roots. He is a proud Mississippi native, and you can hear that in his music.

Micah was honored to play in a couple movies, and plans to do more. Look for him in the James Brown biopic - Get on Up with Chadwick Boseman and in The Nice Guys with Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling.

A Micah Brown production could be a trio, a five piece or a big band. Micah has over 3000 songs in his repertoire. Covers include James Brown, Johnnie Taylor, Tyrone Davis, Calvin Richardson, Anthony Hamilton, Chris Stapleton, Otis Redding, Bobby Bland, BB King, Lionel Richie and the Commodores, Bruno Mars, Cool and the Gang, Stevie Ray Vaghn, Albert King, Bill Withers, Prince, Rupert Holmes, Mel Waiters, Marvin Sease, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Joe Henderson, and more. He also performs a range of instrumental pieces of his own composition. His album, My Turn, is available on CD, Spotify, iTunes, and more.
